EXPLORER YACHTING

A glimps
at the interiors

Tiziano Mecella - Interior designer at CdM

Tiziano Mecella, architect at the Interior Design Dept. of Cantiere delle Marche, provides an insight on Maverick's interiors. The interior design project has been created by Francesco Paszkowski who developed the layout and provided all architectural plans.

An American owner, with a taste for excellence, has entrusted Cantiere delle Marche to build a Deep Blue 115, an explorer yacht that, following his requests, will feature cutting-edge technical specifications. This project has been further improved by the collaboration with DÖHLE YACHTS. The American market represents a beacon of growth and opportunity and the interest and demand we are witnessing from American yacht owners encourages us to strengthen our presence on the other side of the pond.

CdM: What is your favorite feature of this boat, and why?

T.M.: In my opinion, the most captivating interior space of the boat is the Main deck salon. It's a very spacious and luminous multifunctional area. The large side windows offer a splendid view outside; on the starboard side, the glass nearly reaches the floor, giving the impression of being able to touch the sea. The space centrally accommodates a large modular sofa by Living Divani, from which one can watch the TV descending from the ceiling on the right side, or sit to talk to those seated at the bar counter on the left side. The latter is a functional element entirely custom-designed and manufactured by the German company Steininger. Inside, there are storage compartments for tableware, two sinks, a cocktail preparation area, and two sliding panels that serve as support tables when sitting on comfortable stools. Forward, there's a large dining table by Paola Lenti, comfortably seating up to 10 people. The kitchen is directly connected to the salon through a large sliding door. The large aft window can be fully opened, seamlessly connecting the interior with the exterior. The salon can also be easily cleared and transformed into a spacious and comfortable dance floor; everything is already set up for the installation of the DJ console.

CdM: What material or element was the most challenging to source, and why?

T.M.:There wasn't any true difficulty in sourcing any material or element; rather, it was very complex and laborious to integrate within the various spaces a series of both custom and non-custom elements, produced by new suppliers in their first collaboration with the shipyard. For example, all the furniture by Steininger (bar cabinet, kitchen, outdoor furniture), or the lamps from the German company Occhio, the wardrobes and sliding doors from Rimadesio, or even the large wine cellar positioned in the center of the staircase area. Throughout the development of this project, it was necessary to maintain continuous communication with all these companies to manage the development optimally from the early design stages to the installation on board.

CdM: Can you explain a bit more about the synthetic material with the metallic-like finish that covers most walls, ceilings and cabinetry?

T.M.:The material with the metallic effect is called Fenix and belongs to the line of innovative materials produced by the company Arpa. It's composed of 60% paper and 40% acrylic resins, mixed and compacted at high temperatures to obtain a non-porous material. Due to its characteristics, it's used to make furniture components, including kitchen countertops. Inside the boat, it was used both with a surface aluminum foil in the two finishes Gold Cortez and Steel Hamilton, and in matte colors Beige, Ottawa Beaver, and Ingo Black, to practically all the parts constituting the boat's internal skin, from walls to ceilings. The panels thus created were positioned 2 mm apart, creating a strict geometric pattern of alignments highlighted by the black color of the edges.

CdM: What are your thoughts on the layout?

T.M.:The layout of the boat is quite unique. It's an unusual and highly personalized layout that completely reflects the client's requests, who actively participated in the project's development from the beginning, envisioning the yacht as the home to stay with family and friends during the long journey of exploration around the world.
